Study of Effect of Pranahuti on INNER BALANCE

Introduction:

Imperience, Centre for training and research in Pranahuti Aided meditation has undertaken a study to establish the effect of Pranahuti on the inner balance of persons by measuring the balance of the Autonomous Nervous system. Balance is always a dynamic interaction between activation and relaxation systems in the body influenced by both Mind and Heart. This study falls under the category of objective analysis.

In Pranahuti Aided Meditation, the meditator gets the assistance from another person in meditation through Pranahuti. The process of Pranahuti can be understood as:

  • Pranahuti or transmission of superfine thought is the most unique feature of the system of Rajayoga of Sri Ram Chandra Or Pranahuti Aided Meditation.
  • It is offered by a trainer who assists the aspirant to develop the capacity for balanced existence while simultaneously assisting him / her in the spiritual progress.
  • It is no mystic or mysterious force and does not require words or touch or any other such physical aids.
Earlier Studies on Pranahuti: The earlier study by the Institute, totally subjective, was based on the feedback given by participants. In 88% of the meditation sessions, persons have reported various feelings which can be clustered broadly under the categories of Happiness, Tranquility, Freedom, Vibrations and Aspiration. It was proved that persons irrespective of age, gender or educational qualifications were able to feel the influx, which proves the universal nature of Prana and our oneness with it.

Aim of the study:

This is an objective study taken up basically addressing two issues based on the given premises for each issue.

  • Can a change in the balance condition of a person due to influx of Pranahuti be measured at all?

Premise: The influx of Pranahuti cannot be measured at Physical plane as the Prana that is being offered is from beyond supra-mental states of consciousness.

  • If measurable, what is the nature of the change in the balance condition.

Premise: The common notion amongst the practicants of PAM that PRANAHUTI IS ALL AND EVERYTHING to lead a person to higher condition of balance from the existing state. Therefore the influx will invariably give positive result with respect to balanced condition.

Methodology:

The inner balance scan instrument is a gadget called as “ Inner Balance Scan” a product from Biocom Technologies U.S.A ,  which measures the Heart rate Variability ( HRV) for a period of 5 minutes and gives a graphical output where the balance condition after the test is depicted by  a colored dot. In this study, since the test is done twice, the output is shown as two different colored dots on a X-Y scale. The pretest depicts the balance condition before the influx of Pranahuti and the post test depicts the balance condition after the influx of Pranahuti. The program also gives various other parameters connected with HRV analysis. In this study, the regulatory efforts measure is used in this analysis as it indicates the net efforts of the autonomous system be it excessive or depleted in relation to the ideal for a particular age and sex.

Given below are the picture of Gadget and a sample graphical inner balance report showing pre and post test conditions along with the change in regulatory efforts.

Conditions during data collection:

  • The test was conducted immediately before and within 30 minutes after meditation to ensure uniform controlled test condition.
  • Before the test, clear instructions are given to take it in a relaxed disposition.

Participants:

120 participants have taken the test. Out of this 52 are the persons who had their first exposure to a session of Pranahuti called as freshers. 68 persons are those who are practicing PAM for some time and had repeated exposures to Pranahuti called as abhyasis.

Discussion

  • From the above   observation, in both the groups there is change in balance condition due to influx of Pranahuti either depleted or excessive regulatory efforts. Only 5.7 % in freshers and 8.82 % in abhyasis have shown no change in the study. This observation clearly shows there is a definite change in balance condition and also it is measurable. By the above, it can be deduced that Pranahuti brings observable changes in the balance condition.
  • From the trend of regulatory efforts, in the both the groups the effect of Pranahuti is almost similar.  The depleted regulatory efforts are seen in 50.0 % of freshers and 45.58 % of abhyasis and excessive efforts are seen in 44.23 % of freshers and 45.58 % of abhyasis. From this it can be deduced that the influx of Pranahuti does not immediately result in more balanced condition dispelling the  common notion amongst the practicants of PAM that PRANAHUTI IS ALL AND EVERYTHING to lead a person to higher condition of balance.
  • Usually there should be depletion of regulatory effort immediately after the influx of Pranahuti. It is happy to note that this was observed in 50% of freshers and 45.58 % of abhyasis.
  • However, the reasons for excessive regulatory efforts in almost 45 % of persons in both the groups could be due to :
    • In freshers, expectation to receive something tangible while Pranahuti lifts the thought of a person from the existing state to a higher refined state.
    • In abhyasis who regularly take Pranahuti, the conditioning of mind due to the prior experiences leads to a state of expectancy (akin to greed rather than aspiration to improve the spiritual condition), thereby interferes with the working of it leading to no change condition or even disappointment.
    • Pranahuti works in the subconscious mind and the conscious mind is active with its habits therefore will take time for its moulding.
    • It should also be noted that during this study, Pranahuti was offered from different levels by various trainers depending on the their level of spiritual advancement
    • If the goals of the receiver are not in consonance with the objective of his spiritual upliftment through Pranahuti, then its working will not be efficacious.
    • In any learning curve, there will be several phases of ascent, plateau and apparent descent. In an apparent descent phase the regulatory efforts could increase in an attempt to maintain the balance.
  • In the system of Pranahuti Aided meditation, Pranahuti is a session of spiritual learning in silence for the abhyasis and it is also true in case of freshers. The well known learning curve applies to this field also. That is, there is a period of ascent, period of plateau and also a period of descent. The basic prerequisite to learning in spiritual life is aspiration. Pranahuti enlivens the inner aspiration as the person who offers it always wills for the spiritual upliftment of the other. Secondly the recipient should have an attitude of waiting and be non expectant. Under these conditions, Pranahuti works very effectively leading to change in attitudes and thus balance on a sustained basis.

Conclusions:

From this preliminary study, which is a first of its kind,  can be concluded that there is a tangible effect on the inner balance due to influx of Pranahuti. This study also adequately proves that Pranahuti alone cannot enhance the balance but it is only assists the individual’s effort to improve the balance. However one has to evaluate oneself in actual life situations to know the extent of one’s balance. Pranahuti only assists in the process naturally and not a replacement to one’s efforts. It is also desired that more and more people practicing PAM participate in such studies to validate the system on scientific principles.

Constraints:

Some of the constraints of this study are listed as follows:

  • Due to lack of adequate infrastructure, the study was conducted with limited resources.
  • This instrument has been designed for 5 min and 10 min test duration keeping in view of medical requirements, but the minimum duration of Pranahuti aided Meditation sessions is 30 min thus resulting this into an indicative study.
  • With more data on this subject and repeated studies on the same individuals, it will be helpful in understanding the effect of Pranahuti more objectively.
